Our war on waste continues
How’s your commitment to reducing single-use plastics this year?
The 2 biggest catalysts this year for me were:-
- The war on waste TV series on the ABC
- Plastic Free July
And as we approach the end of the year I’d thought I’d share a few more permanent changes that have happened.
Our Bin Liners replacement – compostapak
Our Bin Liners are no longer plastic. Yah! plastic free, we’re using Australian made 100% compostable bin liners.
Yes these are more costly than a standard plastic liner but we’re in a position to spend a few dollars more to hopefully encourage others to follow, enough people demand these products and the market becomes competitive, the price comes down.
Fast forward a couple of years and all plastic liners are banned?

Our reusable Water Bottles – S’well
We are now the proud owners of the s’well bottle. Not only is the bottle stylish, well insulated and built to last, the company’s ethos is amazing. Giving back a stack of cash each year to fight the cause of making clean water available to those way less fortunate than us in 1st world countries.

Our reusable shopping bags – Flip n Tumble 24/7
We did some homework, we tried a few options and we fell in love with the Flip n Tumble 24/7
These bags rock! strong, pack really smartly, well made, easy to clean, look good too. These now are never far away. 1 for the car, 1 for each of us sitting in our existing backpack/handbag at the ready. It isn’t always the shopping, might be a towel and a book for the beach. They are just versatile.
